Lima, Oct. 09 (ANDINA). Peru has declared second Sunday of September as the Peruvian Gastronomy and Cuisine day, according to a motion approved unanimously by the Congressional Commission on Foreign Trade.
The Thursday's session was chaired by congressman Jorge Foinquinos and attended by Deputy Tourism Minister Mara Seminario; Deputy Cultural Heritage and Cultural Industries Minister Bernardo Roca-Rey; President of the Peruvian Society of Gastronomy (Apega) Mariano Valderrama; and Executive director of the National Chamber of Tourism Cesar Alcorta.

Government officials and civil organizations agreed that the second Sunday of September is an appropriate date as it coincides with the gastronomic fair "Mistura".

They also noted that such recognition will promote celebrations accross the country as well as at all government levels, contributing with the development of gastronomy as a symbol of identity and cultural affirmation.
